Day 01 : Morning Hike to Village: Culture Immersion and Hands-on Activities (L/D)
Explore nature, Lao cultures, villages, mountain trails & cultural activities in Nong Khiaw, Laos.
After a short ride we start walking small paths past rice paddies and through preserved forest with huge trees and great views and sneaking between high-rising mountains. Colorful rice fields (seasonal) and gardens guide our way through this amazing scenery. Spend only about 1.5 hours on an easy walk to arrive at the Hmong, Khmu, and Lao Leum village. Explore the village with your guide and visit the Clay School operational since 2011.
Your guide will give you an introduction to the local traditions, the Lao lowland style of weaving and other activities. A walk around the village can tell you many stories and shows you the difference between the ethnic groups.
We then prepare ourselves for an overnight stay in this remote village and enjoy the local “cuisine”. Take your time to explore the place by yourself in the evening or just play with the children.
This day of the tour has been designed so that you arrive at the village with extra time to explore, interact, and engage in hands-on activities. The low-cost, but engaging activities (see below) are organized by the locals, directly benefit the Hmong and Khmu people leading the activity, and have been made so that you can choose the activities on-the-spot.
Indulge in this rare opportunity, designed into this tour, to interact closely with hill-tribe inhabitants, learn some of their crafts, and see their way of life. Your local Lao guide will help translate and broaden the experience with their own stories and knowledge.
Day 02 : Jungle Trek, Waterfall, and Nam Ou Cruise (B/L)
Enjoy breakfast before departing the village by local trail to the Nam Ou River on one of the most spectacular routes in the area taking you through a canyon pass with mountains rising on both sides. Enjoy the picturesque and refreshing Tadmok waterfall after a short boat ride and 1 hour trek and visit a Khmu village nestled on the banks of the Nam Ou River and see its gardens. Along the way, we serve another Lao style lunch before we return to Nong Khiaw by boat. Enjoy the sceneries!!

Day 1 is 6 km, medium-level trekking normally taking about 1.5 hours.
Day 2 is 7 km, medium-level hiking normally taking about 5.5 hours
Trail conditions and hiking times can increase if there is rain.

Note: as the activities are elective, guests should bring some money to pay for activities on the spot that they choose to participate.

Preparation
Bring your adventure gear including trekking shoes, sandals, towel and sun protection. You will follow covered trails, little streams, and open land. We provide water, food (4 Lao style meals)
